    This manual is written with descriptions of operation for a particular type of Android tablet. These tablets, like computers, are not made by Frye Electronics, Inc., and may differ slightly, one from another. The operation of the tablet supplied with the individual Colt audiometer may thus be different from that described in this manual.

    They cannot usually be purchased off the shelf from a normal hi/fi or electronics store. Please also note that the FONIX Colt requires special shielded cables for use with its sound field speakers. These cables are supplied with the sound field speaker package.

    Plug the shielded sound field speakers (optional accessories) into the jacks marked "SPKR LEFT" and "SPKR RIGHT." Please note that both the speakers and the cables should be purchased from Frye Electronics. Plug the talkback microphone (optional accessory) into the jack marked "TALK BACK MIC."...

    10. Plug in an external amplifier (if desired) into the jacks labeled "LINE OUT LEFT" and "LINE OUT RIGHT." 11. Connection to an external computer is done by plugging in a USB cable between the Colt rear panel USB connector and the USB connector on the computer. After audio- metric tests have been run, test data may be retrieved from the tablet by use of a USB cable between tablet and computer.

    2.3 Recovering from Android Sleep In order to preserve battery life, the Android tablet will normally go to sleep after a set amount of time (this time is changeable and the sleep feature can be disabled). To reawaken the tablet, press the power switch on the Android tablet momentarily and then slide the lock to the right when it appears.

    masking. That is, if the input level of the test ear is increased by 10 dB, it is often desirable for the masking signal to also be increased by 10 dB. This is done automatically by enabling the Tracking button. When Tracking is enabled, adjusting the hearing level button for one channel will adjust the hearing level for the other ear by the same amount.

    3.2.1 Using the Colt System Built-in Speech Tests The Android tablet that comes with your Colt Audiometer also includes an SD card loaded with audiometric speech files. To use these files, you must connect the headphone jack on the Android tablet to the EXT INPUT jack on the back of the Colt Audiometer Base using the 3.5 mm cable provided with your Colt Audiometer.

    Speech Screen options: 3.2.4 Scoring the Speech Test You can score the speech test directly in the Speech screen. Whenever a patient correctly repeats a word, press the "CORRECT" button. When the patient gets the word wrong, press the "WRONG" button. The speech score will automatically be calculated. Use the "CLEAR" button to clear the results.

Sometimes it is desirable to describe a complex test to the patient, which explana- tion can take time. The setting of the talk forward button to toggle allows the user to touch the talk forward buttton and keep the talkover alive while describing the test to the patient.
