Possible Reason
• DMD4's metal detection
is very sensitive.
• Metal objects are too
deep. (See Maximun
Scanning Depth, page 4.)
• Jewelry or mechanical
pencil are too close to
SENSOR area.
Possible Reason
• Studs and joists are
too deep.
• Double and triple studs
are usually found around
doors and windows.
• Wood scan detects
metal and other dense
objects as well as studs
and joists.
Remedy
• Use ZOOM feature to more
precisely determine location
and center of metal object(s).
• Use ZOOM feature
• Scan in vertical direction as
well as horizontal direction.
• Remove jewelry
• Use non-mechanical pencil
• Recalibrate detector.
Remedy
• Change to metal scan to search
for nails or screws that may
indicate location of the stud
or joist.
• Start scan farther away so
that outer edge of multiple
studs and /or headers are
detected.
• Conduct metal scan as well
to help determine which
detected items are metal,
rather than something else,
such as wood studs or
plastic pipes.
