Name Explanation
Max. Ports Number of ports of the virtual switch. Each EoE device (e.g. EL6601, AX5000) in the lower-
level EtherCAT systems occupies one port.
Max Frames Max. number of temporarily stored Ethernet frames. Can be increased if there are
noticeable throughput bottlenecks.
Max MAC Ids MAC addresses of the connected devices stored in the internal Switch-Look-Up table. Must
be larger than the maximum number of Ethernet devices ever connected to all systems.
Connect to Connects the EoE switch to the internal Windows NDIS network layer
TCP/IP Stack IP range must thereby correspond
IP Enable This function is provided by the Windows operating system and is accessible via the
Router registry or, in the case of embedded CX systems under Windows CE/WEC, via the CX-

Notes on the device
• An EAP adapter must be created in the configuration in order to operate a CU2508 downlink port as a
publisher/subscriber device of EAP real-time Ethernet telegrams ("network variables").
• Attention is to be paid to the general notes on the EAP/Publisher/Subscriber procedure [} 48].
• The EAP (EtherCAT Automation Protocol) is operated here in the so-called push mode as opposed to
the so-called polling mode for flexible data transfer.
• At least TwinCAT 2.11R3 is required for operation on the master side.
Setting up the real-time Ethernet device
For the setup a real-time Ethernet adapter is to be created as usual.
