Derailleur gears
The Performance RD9.2 and RD9.2s are equipped with
a Shimano Deore 9 speed derailleur. The Performance
RD10 and MD10 model have a 10 speed Shimano SLX
derailleur.
All Performance models with derailleur gears are
controlled by a Shimano Rapidfire shifter. These shifters
can be manually controlled with the two levers next
to the right grip. The lowest one (controlled with the
thumb) shifts 1 gear down/lighter with a small push or
2 gears down/lighter with a big push. The upper shifter
(controlled with your index finger) shifts 1 gear up/
heavier with every push. See the image on the next
page.
It is important to always keep cycling when shifting
gears, but don't use force on the pedals while shifting.
Never shift gears when in a standstill. The display of the
shifter shows which gear you are in.

Fine tuning derailleur gears
To avoid unnecessary wear and noise from the chain,
you can make sure that the derailleur wheel is in a
straight line with the cassette wheel. The chain should
also run in a straight line. It is possible to fine-tune this
at the rear derailleur or with the adjustment screw at
the shifter.
