On the 4600 Moen single handle lavatory faucet, what side of the gasket is set on the sink surface - the smooth surface or the surface with more of the ribbing?
I **** assuming it is the smooth surface but it is not spelled out in the instructions.
Thanks

The document does not specify whether the smooth or ribbed side of the gasket should be placed on the sink surface. However, it does mention placing a bead of plumber's putty around the inside lip of the gasket before positioning it on the deck.

Slide off grooved sleeve and spacer. Using the cartridge twisting tool (furnished with new Moen cartridge) and pliers turn the cartridge back and forth between 11 and 1 o'clock, then grasp the cartridge stem and pull out the cartridge. If the cartridge is difficult to remove use a Moen cartridge puller.
