6 .5 Inserting the colour ribbon

For direct thermal printing, a colour ribbon may not be
inserted. If a colour ribbon is already inserted, it must be
removed.

Inserting the colour ribbon.
1 Colour ribbon supply hub
2 Turn knob
3 Colour ribbon winder
4 Printhead locking lever
5 Colour ribbon core
6 Colour ribbon roll
1 Clean the printhead.
2 Turn the lever counterclockwise to lift the printhead.
3 Slide the colour ribbon roll onto the colour ribbon supply
hub so that the colour coating of the ribbon faces
downward.
4 Position the colour ribbon roll centred on the colour
ribbon supply hub.
5 Hold onto the colour ribbon roll.
6 Turn the rotary knob on the colour ribbon supply hub
counterclockwise until the colour ribbon roll is fixed.
7 Push a suitable colour ribbon core onto the colour ribbon
winders and fix it in the same way.
8 Guide the colour ribbon roll through the print
mechanism.
Colour ribbon feed.
9 Secure the starting end of colour ribbon to the ribbon
core with adhesive tape.
f In doing so, ensure that the colour ribbon winder rotates
counterclockwise.
; The starting end of the colour ribbon is fixed to the
colour ribbon core.

10 Turn the colour ribbon winder counterclockwise to
smooth out the colour ribbon feed.

11 Turn the lever clockwise to lock the printhead.

; The colour ribbon is inserted.

6 .6 Adjusting the colour ribbon feed

Wrinkles in the colour ribbon feed can cause print
pattern errors. The colour ribbon guide roll can be
adjusted to prevent wrinkles.
Faulty adjustment of the head locking system can also
cause wrinkles in the colour ribbon feed.

1 Read the current setting on the scale and write it down if
necessary.
2 Turn the screw with Allen key and observe the behaviour
of the colour ribbon.
In the + direction, the inner edge of the colour ribbon is
tightened. The outer edge of the colour ribbon is tightened
in the - direction
; The colour ribbon feed is adjusted.
