waterto thepropertemperature.
Forgoodwashinganddrying,the
enteringwaternmstbe atleast
120°F. T opreventdishdarnage,
inletwatershouldnotexceed150°F.
Howto testwatertemperature:
Checkthewatertemperature
insideyourdishwasher w itha
candyor meatthermometer.
Letthedishwasher r un through
onefillandpumpoutcycle,then
1etthedishwasher f illwithwater
thesecondtime.
Whenyouhearthe waterstop
filling,unlatchthedoorand slowly
openit.
Measure thetemperature o fthewater
in thebottom offie tubthisway:
Removethesilverwarebasketand
placea candyor meatthermometer
in the watertowardsthe middleof
the tub. If the temperatureis less
than 120"F, y ouwill notgetgood
washingresuhs. Higherwater
temperatureis neededto dissolve
greaseandactivate p owder d etergents.
hints:If outside
temperatures a reunusually low,or
if yourwatertravelsalong distance
fromwaterheatertodishwasher,
youmayneedto setyourwater
heater's thermostat u p.If youhave
notusedhotwaterforsometime,
thewaterin thepipeswillbecold.

dishwasher. I f you've recentlydone
laundryor runhotwaterfor
showers, g iveyourwaterheater
timeto recoverbeforeoperating the
dishwasher.
Toimprove washability if thewater
is lessthan 120°F andyoucannot
adjustyourwaterheater:Selecta
longercycleandfillbothdetergent
cupsat leasthalf-fillwithdetergent.

A rinseagentmakeswaterflow
offdishesquickerthanusual.This
lessenswaterspottingandmakes
dryingfaster,too.
For bestdishwashing p erformance,
useofa rinseagentsuchasJET-DRY
brandis recommended.
Rinseagentscomein eitherliquid
or solidform. Yourdishwasher's
dispenserusesthe liquidform.
Howto fill the
rinse agent
dispenser.
Unscrewthe cap. Add
the liquidrinseagentuntilitjust
reachesthe bottomofthe lip inside
the dispenseropening.Replacethe
cap. Thedispenserautomatically
releasesthe rinseagentintothe
finalrinsewater.
If you auxidental!y s pill:Wipe
up therinse agentwitha damp
cloth. Don'tleavethe spillin the
dishwasher. I t cankeepyour
detergentfrom working.

How to choose and we
First, use only powder or liquid
detergents specifically made for
use in dishwashers. Other types
wiil cause oversudsing.
Second, check the phosphate
content.
Phosphate helpsprevent
hard-water m aterialsfromforming
spotsor filmonyourdishes.If
yourwateris hard(7 grainsor
more), yourdetergent h asto work
harder.Detergents witha higher
phosphatelevelwillprobablywork
better.If thephosphate contentis
low(8.7%or less),you'llhaveto
useextradetergent w ithhardwater.

harmful. It cancausea permanent
cloudinessofglassware,called
