Contraindications

The PhalliMax must not be used in (or may be used only after consulting a physi-
cian)

Patients with electronic implants such as heart pacemakers, defibrillators or
pumps
»
Patients with cardiac rhythm disorders
»
Patients subject to seizures (epilepsy)
»
Patients with skin disorders in the vicinity of the electrodes
»
Patients with malignant diseases in the area of application
»
Patients with sensitivity disorders or skin sensitivity in the area of application.

1.4 What side effects may occur?

Skin intolerances

Skin intolerances may arise as a reaction to the electrodes, the electrode gel, or
the electrical impulses themselves. In the event of persistent redness, burning
sensation, itching, blisters, or wounds under the electrodes or in the area sur-
rounding the area that they are applied, which occur after stimulation, a physi-
cian must be consulted before any further application. Mild, non-persistent red-
ness of the skin following stimulation near the electrodes is normal, because the
flow of blood is improved as a result of the stimulation.
Muscle overexertion ("sore muscles")

As with any other type of muscle training, muscle overexertion can also occur in
electrotherapy. In the event of muscle overexertion following stimulation of the
pelvic floor muscles, the duration and frequency of application of the PhalliMax
should be reduced.
Temporary pain
»
Despite all precautions, temporary pain may occur in the area of stimulation dur-
ing or after stimulation. Most of the time a slight repositioning of the electrodes
or a shorter application time will help. The pain often subsides quickly and usu-
ally only occurs at the start of electrotherapy. If the pain persists, seek medical
advice before any further applications of the PhalliMax.
