6. SETTINGS
Image brightness and sharpness may vary according to the distance between the camera and
the ST-CCTV-VBAC8. A potentiometer and set of DIP switches are assigned to each channel
on the ST-CCTV-VBAC8. The potentiometer is used to adjust "brightness" while the DIP
switches adjust "sharpness". To help achieve the best image quality, first adjust the
ST-CCTV-VBAC8's potentiometer(s) for brightness the adjust the DIP switches a described
below to compensate for distance. A switch in the "1" position represents minimum
compensation while a switch in the "4" position represent maximum compensation. Using the
table below the 4 DIP switch settings for each channel can provide up to 16 compensation
values associated with various transmission distances.
Note all adjustments for brightness and sharpness should be done with a video waveform
monitor or other video test equipment. However, if such equipment is not available a video
monitor can be used.

7. TROUBLESHOOTING

a. Video image appears scrambled – (i) Check to be sure all UTP wiring connections and
polarities are consistent at each device and ST-CCTV-VBAC8 input (terminal block or
RJ45 connector).
b. Video image has some ripples – This may be caused by electro-magnetic
interference. Be certain all cables are away from any devices that may cause such
interference (e.g., electrical motors, furnaces, etc.).
c. Video image lacks brightness and/or sharpness – Adjust the ST-CCTV-VBAC8's
potentiometer(s) for brightness and/or DIP switches for distance. A video waveform
monitor or other video test equipment should be used.
d. Can shielded twisted pair cable be used – Although shielded twisted pair cable can be
used, the cable's high-frequency roll-off will degrade the distance performance.
Therefore, it is not recommended beyond a couple hundred feet.
