Components and functional parts

2.4
2.4.1 Electric circuit
The main components of the electric and electronic
circuit are as follows:
Socket, with 2 fuses and switch.
1
Illuminated 2-position red switch: 0: stop and 1: Start
2
(Red light on).
3
Illuminated 2-position black switch: 0: off and 1: On.
Light: Lighting of work area
4
Motor: Single phase with brushes.
5
Switching adjustment lights on and off: Operates
6
the plate for calibrating the milling cutter and tracer
point. Press once to operate the plate, press again
to switch off the calibration plate. Switch off the
calibration plate before starting to cut keys.
Adjustment plate: Plate with two red lights to cali-
7
brate the milling cutter.
8
Milling cutter: Cutting tool to make a copy of the
original key.
9
Tracer point: Original key tracer.
10
Clamp: Two clamps to secure the original key and
the blank.
11
Microswitch: Safety system that prevents the motor
from starting up until the head lever is activated and
the head lowered to start cutting.

2.4.2 Calibration control keypad

Electric system for adjusting the milling cutter and
tracer point.

2.4.3 Clamps

The features of the clamp on the DAKAR-EXPRESS key-
cutting machine are superior to those of the normal
machines on the market. Wear on the clamp does not
mean it has to be changed for a new one. You just have
to change the jaws, using a novel, simple adjustment
system.

2.4.4 Springing and locking of slide on the "x" axis

This spring system is used to laterally mill wave keys.
Locking on the " X " axis is used to mill or mark dimples
in a straight line on the "Y" axis.

2.4.5 Elastic or locked tracer point

The tracer point is on the left-hand side of the machine
looking from the front. It has a number of different
applications depending on the job to be done. Use the
handle shown below to set the tracer point to one of
the following two modes:
Elastic tracer point
1
With the tracer point in the elastic mode, cutting
operations with a vertical feed can be carried out.
Cutting by points.
Locked tracer point
2
With the tracer point locked, cutting operations
with a horizontal feed can be carried out.

See figure 6

2.4.6 Vertical adjustment of the tracer point

Before switching the machine on with the main switch,
position the two keys in the clamps, the original in the
left-hand clamp and the blank in the right-hand clamp.
Activate the electronic control by pressing on / off on
the keypad and carry out the following adjustments:
Turn the locking handle 180º (to lock the tracer
point).
Lower the head and rest the tools lightly without
any pressure on a flat part of the key.
When the tools come into contact with the keys
the following situations occur:
Left and right red lights on.
1
If the two red lights come on, the machine is
adjusted. The tracer point and the milling cutter
are touching the key.
2
Left red light on.
If the left red light comes on, the tracer point
is touching the key. It needs to be adjusted. To
do this, turn the wheel R to the left until both
the red lights come on.
3
Right red light on.
If the right red light comes on, the milling cutter
is touching the key. It needs to be adjusted. To do
this, turn the wheel R to the right until the two
red lights comes on.

2.4.7 Changing the milling cutter and tracer point

To release the milling cutter, first of all you have to lock
the shaft by pressing the locking button and turning
the chuck by hand until you find the locking hole on
the shaft.
After locking, release the chuck and change the milling
cutter. When inserting the milling cutter, make sure that
you insert it right into the chuck.
To release the tracer point, secure the chuck and change
the tracer point. When you insert the tracer point, make
sure that you insert it right into the chuck.
See figure 8

2.4.8 Light switch and motor speed selector

There are two switches on the right-hand side of the
machine. One of them is a two-position red switch (I, 0)
and the other a two-position black switch (0, I).
The red switch supplies voltage to the motor.
1
When (I) is pressed the motor is supplied and the
switch comes on with a red light to indicate that
the motor is connected to the supply.
BE CAREFUL! ALTHOUGH THE MOTOR IS ON IT WILL
NOT START TO ROTATE UNTIL YOU ACTIVATE THE
LEVER TO LOWER THE HEAD. ONCE THE HEAD HAS
BEEN LOWERED A FEW CENTIMETRES, THE MOTOR
WILL START TO ROTATE.
If you press (0) the motor is not supplied and the
refore cannot be started.
2
The black switch turns on or off the light for the
work area.
If you press (I) the light comes on.
If you press (0) the light goes off.
