Recycling Your Battery
When properly maintained and used (in accordance with charging and storage guidelines), the
battery has a normal life of two to three years. If the battery has not been charged or cannot be
charged, it should be removed from the UDX Bike and disposed of at a recycling facility.
The federal law prohibits the disposal of batteries in normal household waste. Please contact a local
waste or recycling authority for information on places near you to recycle the battery. Batteries or
packaging for batteries are marked in accordance with European Directive 2006/66/EC on batteries
and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators. The Directive sets the framework for the
take-back and recycling of used batteries and accumulators, as it applies throughout the European
Union. This label shall be affixed to batteries to indicate that the battery may not be thrown away
but may be taken back at the end of its life in accordance with this Directive. According to the
European Directive 2006/66/EC, batteries and accumulators are provided with a label indicating
that they must be collected separately and recycled at the end of their life. The battery (Pb for lead,
Hg for mercury and Cd for cadmium). Users of batteries and accumulators may not dispose of
batteries and accumulators as unsorted household waste, but may use the available collection
framework for the return, recycling and treatment of batteries and accumulators. Participation in
this procedure is important in order to minimise the potential impact of batteries and
accumulators on the environment and human health due to the possible presence of hazardous
substances.
