    SUV, or pick-up truck. Compared to a conventional sized log splitter, the EZ Split is one third the size, and at 138 pounds, it is one fourth the weight. But don't let the size fool you. The engine and heavy-duty hydraulic system delivers 8 tons of splitting force, plenty to split logs up to 18 inches in diameter and 18 inches long.

    Only use your hand to operate the control lever. NEVER use your foot, knee, a rope, or any other extension device. Important Notice When lifting or moving your EZ Split, keep the engine level (prevent it from tipping). Allowing the engine to tip may cause oil to leak into the carburetor, making starting difficult.

    1. Using a utility knife, cut along the four corners of the shipping box so the sides lay flat on the ground. This provides full access to your EZ Split log splitter and makes assembly much easier. 2. Cut the plastic strap around the parts box and cylinder. Open the box and make sure you have the following parts.

  • Page 20: General Maintenance Check (Before Operating)

    It is critical that the proper hydraulic oil level is maintained. Oil level should be checked periodically. Be sure the EZ Split is on a flat, level surface. Remove the screw from the side of the oil tank. If oil does not run from the hole, oil level is low. Remove fill cap and add oil SLOWLY until it runs from the oil level hole.

    Always replace frayed, kinked, or cracked hoses and/or other damaged hydraulic components with Brave’ authorized parts and components specified in the “Parts” section of this manual. Replacement parts from secondary suppliers (not original Brave replacement parts) can lead to product damage and/or personal injury, and WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

    Inspection and Maintenance Hydraulic Oil Change Brave recommends an oil change every 100 hours of operation. Refer to the “Specifications” section in this manual for the type and quantity of oil. Important Notice Never run the log splitter unless the hydraulic oil tank is full.
