unthreading
of
the
projector
14
Damaged film, torn perfora-
tions or poor splicing may
cause your projector
to
thread
or function improp-
erly. If you have to manually
unthread the projector, fol-
low these four simple steps:
First, move Control Switch
to "OFF" position, and move
take-up reel to rewind posi-
tion. Open Lower Film Guide
and grasp film. Also, grasp
film at rear where film enters
take-up reel. Slowly slide
film out of bottom film
channel. See picture A.
Next, open the lens housing
door and slide film away
from the two bottom film
rollers. See picture B.
Then slide film away from
the top film roller and the
rubber Friction Film Drive
Roller. See picture C.
Last, move film out of main
film channel, by moving film
up and down as you are
drawing it out. See picture D.
After completing this proce-
dure, rewind your film back
onto Front Reel, checking
for bad splices or various
types of film damage that
may have caused the im-
proper function.
20. cleaning and
maintenance
Your projector has
been lu-
bricated at the factory
so
that you need not
oil it.
However, there
are
cleaning
steps you
should
perform
that will assure
you of the
superior performance
you
expect from
your Bell &
Howell projector.
APERTURE
AND
FILM CHANNEL
CLEANING APERTURE AND FILM CHANNEL
The film channel and aperture must be brushed clean
after
each
show. It is
strongly recommended that you
use
a
very
soft
camel hair
brush
for this clean-
ing
area. Just gently brush up and down to remove
any dust or dirt particles that
may
be
in this
area. NOTE: Never
use a
hard
or metal instrument to clean the
aperture
and
film channel
area. Do
not
attempt
to clean the aperture opening by
passing
the brush
through it.
CLEAN I
NG THE
LENS
Pull
the Focus
Knob outward and
pull out the lens. Wipe off the lens surface
with a soft
cloth
or sheet of lens
tissue moistened with a few drops of good lens
cleaner, such as used for eye glasses.
Be sure to clean both ends of the lens.
Be sure to engage the Focus Control
Pi,n in the lens groove when replacing lens.
GENERAL
It
is also a good practice to clean your
film regularly with a film cleaning kit
available
from your photographic dealer.
In addition to your cleaning pro-
cedures,
we recommend your projector be
adjusted and checked periodically
by the Bell & Howell factory, a branch office,
or by one of our Bell & Howell
approved
service stations.
20a. film cleaning and lubrication
Occasionally, a film may not be lubricated by
the processor. This unlubricated
film can cause unsteady pictures. If
this occurs, lubricate the film with prepa-
rations made for this purpose, such
as "Kodak Movie Film Cleaner,
with
Lubricant."
To increase the life of your films and
to assure good projection, your
films
should be lubricated when they are new
and before they are projected.
