Introduction

Scope of Manual

This instruction manual includes installation,
maintenance, and parts information for the Design
NotchFlor DST control valve. Refer to separate
manuals for instructions covering the actuator,
positioner, and accessories.
No person may install, operate, or maintain Design
NotchFlo DST valves without first D being fully
trained and qualified in valve, actuator, and
accessory installation, operation, and maintenance,
and D carefully reading and understanding the
contents of this manual. If you have any questions
about these instructions, contact your Fisher sales
office before proceeding.
Neither Emerson, Emerson Process
Management, nor Fisher assume

Description

The Design NotchFlo DST globe (figure 1) and angle
valves have metal seats, cage guiding, quick change
trim, and push-down-to-close valve plug action.
Class 600 (all valve sizes) and Class 900 and 1500
(2- to 4-inch valves) use balanced valve plugs. Class
900 and 1500 (1- and 1.5 valves) use an unbalanced
valve plug. To provide a seal between the cage and
a balanced valve plug, the balanced valve plugs use
a pressure-assisted spring-loaded seal ring.
Design NotchFlo DST Valves with 3-stage and
4-stage anti-cavitation trim (figure 2) offer control of
high pressure drop liquids while avoiding the
damaging effects of cavitation in a properly sized
valve.
NotchFlo DST control valves utilize a high
resistance, multi-stage, axial flow process where
fluid flow is parallel to the axis of the plug and cage.
Pressure reduction occurs throughout the length of
the plug; thus individual stages aren't exposed to the
full pressure differential. Therefore, trim life is
enhanced.
