6.6

Scan

This feature allows you to monitor traffic on different channels by scanning a preprogrammed list of
channels. Scanning is halted if you initiate a call and resumes when the call has ended.
6.6.1

Turning Scan On or Off

Procedure:
Perform one of the following actions:
Press the preprogrammed Scan button to initiate or stop scan.
or to SCAN and press the Menu Select button directly below SCAN.
If the scan is enabled, the display shows SCAN ON and the scan status icon.
If the scan is disabled, the display shows SCAN OFF.
The radio returns to the Home screen.
6.6.2
Turning Scan On While Disregarding the Squelch Code
(Conventional Channels Only)
When and where to use: You can still receive fleetwide, system-wide, dynamic regrouping, incoming
telephone interconnect, and Private Conversation/Call Alert calls while scanning for activity.
You may respond to these types of calls as you would normally on the selected channel. However,
when scanning different channels while in talkgroup scan, incoming Private Conversation/Call Alert
calls may be missed.
Procedure:
or to MON and press the Menu Select button directly below MON.
The brief MONITOR ON display indicates that the radio is disregarding the squelch code.
6.6.3

Deleting a Nuisance Channel

When and where to use:
If a channel continually generates unwanted calls or noise (termed "nuisance" channel), you can
temporarily remove the unwanted channel from the scan list.
This capability does not apply to priority channels or the designated transmit channel.
Procedure:
When the radio is locked onto the channel to be deleted, or to NUIS and press the Menu
Select button directly below NUIS.
The radio continues scanning the remaining channels in the list.
