4. mounting
Do not install the solar battery charger outdoors or in wet areas. Make sure that
the solar battery charger is not exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources.
Protect the solar charge controller from dirt, humidity, water and heat.
Do not operate the device near or on flammable or combustible materials.
Make sure that no flammable objects (wood, textiles, waste, etc.) are near
the unit.
When wall mounting the device, make sure that it is a non flammable surface
and that the device is mounted in an upright position. In order to guarantee
an unobstructed air circulation, maintain a minimum distance of at least 10 cm
below and above the device. It is recommended to attach the solar charge
controller close to the batteries (the distance should not exceed 30 cm).
12/24V Selection
The solar battery charger can be used on 12 V and 24 V photovoltaic systems.
The recognition of the system is done automatically.

Deep-DiScharge protection

Lead-acid batteries must be protected against deep discharge, since this will
cause damage to the battery cells. The solar charge controller protects the bat-
tery against deep discharge reliably by disabling the consumer when the lower
voltage limit is reached. Once the batteries are recharged by the solar cells, the
reconnection to the consumer is done automatically.

oVercharge protection

If the maximum of the charge limit of a battery is exceeded it begins to gas.
Excessive gassing will damaged the battery. The gassing is also dependent on
the temperature. With the built-in temperature sensor measuring the surrounding,
the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to avoid this feature. Once the
final voltage is reached, the battery is not fully charged. Therefore the solar bat-
tery charger will not turn off the charging current completely. It will be reduced,
so that the battery will trickle charge and the voltage is not exceeded.
This charging method is called IU-charging and charges the battery very gently
and quickly. The IU-charging method, also called Pulse Width Modulated Shunt
Regulation, is done by short circuiting the solar cell for a short time and then
charging again.
