ZIP NVR USER MANUAL 5.1.4.4 ZIP DDNS (Menu > Setup > Network > ZIP DDNS) DDNS is short for Dynamic Domain Name System, a method of keeping a domain name linked to a changing IP address as most routers do not use static public IP addresses. When a user connects to the Internet, the user's ISP assigns an unused IP address from a pool of IP addresses, and this address is used only for a period of time.
  • Page 44 ZIP NVR USER MANUAL Special Note: The password emailed is only for the ZIP DDNS service and is not the password for entering the ZIP NVR menu. If the password is incorrectly entered on the ZIP DDNS setup page, the service will work until the router IP address changes and an automatic change is triggered. At this point the password is validated against that on the IPPostcode.com database and if different to that entered on the DDNS page on the NVR, access will be blocked.

The way cameras have to be configured depends on whether you are using an NVR with PoE switch included or not and whether you are using Zip IP cameras or non-Zip IP cameras. If you are using an NVR with a PoE switch included there are a number of advantages.
