Multirate Optical Interfaces
28 Connect the output from the Lightwave Converter to the Oscilloscope
using the SMA/BNC adaptor and 50
29 Press
TRANSMIT
or [OC-1].
30 Press
AUTOSCALE
Range to obtain an STM-0/OC-1 waveform.
31 Measure the amplitude of the waveform using the oscilloscope and
adjust the Optical Attenuator until the amplitude is 150mV pk-pk.
32 Disconnect the output of the Lightwave Converter from the
oscilloscope and connect instead to the HP37718A/19A Optical Module
Monitor input.
33 Press
and set up the
RECEIVE
display as shown opposite.
34 Press
RESULTS
then
RUN/STOP
measurement.
35 After 5 minutes, check that NO
TROUBLE is displayed on the
display. Press
RESULTS
to stop the
RUN/STOP
measurement.
36 Recall the HP37718A/19A DEFAULT SETTINGS as shown on Page 3-
2.
37 Disconnect the optical cable from the HP37718A/19A Optical Module
Monitor input and connect to the HP11982A Lightwave Converter
input.
38 Repeat steps 28 to 36 but with [STM-1 OPT] or [OC-3] selected on the
HP37718A/19A
TRANSMIT
39 Recall the HP37718A/19A DEFAULT SETTINGS as shown on Page 3-
2.
40 Disconnect the optical cable from the HP37718A/19A Optical Module
Monitor input and connect to the HP11982A Lightwave Converter
input.
41 Repeat steps 28 to 36 but with [STM-4 OPT] or [OC-12] selected on the
HP37718A/19A
TRANSMIT
