DVM RMS Operation

The Model 444A151 Peak Meter can also be used as a Digital
Volt Meter (DVM). The DVM RMS mode is typically used with
a sinusoidal input, but is not limited to such. The RMS to DC
converter which captures the voltage has an inherent 1.5Hz
hi-pass filter.

DVM PEAK Operation

The DVM PEAK mode is similar to the RMS mode. The signal
is still passed through the RMS to DC converter, and still has
an inherent 1.5Hz hi-pass filter. To achieve the peak output,
the input voltage is multiplied by 1.4142. Again, this option is
typically used with a sinusoidal input.

TRUE OUTPUT Operation

This mode tracks the voltage at the analog output BNC. It
displays positive as well as negative voltages. This voltage is
inherently
AC coupled with the cut-off frequency
approximately 0.05Hz.

BIAS Operation

This mode measures the DC voltage from the output of an
ICP® sensor.
Note: BIAS mode is only available when operating in ICP
mode.

Operation

Set-Up and Measurement

Connect the Model 444A151 to a suitable power source.
Switch the unit on and let it stabilize for a minimum of 1
minute.
If desired, connect the analog output of the 444A151 to a
suitable indicating instrument, voltmeter, oscilloscope, or
frequency analyzer. Also, if desired, connect the PEAK/DVM
output to a suitable indicating instrument.
Select a suitable transducer to be used for the measurement
and observe the correct mounting and installation
instructions. Connect it to the input connector of the Model
444A151.
If using an ICP® sensor, allow proper settling time (rule of
thumb is 5 times the sensors Discharge Time Constant).
If operating in Peak Hold mode, press the reset button before
a measurement takes place.
