How to drive economically
Leave the selector in position D
(drive) on the open road. Press the
accelerator pedal lightly to ensure
automatic gear changes
comparatively low engine speeds.
Accelerating and overtaking
Quickly depress the accelerator
pedal completely (until you pass
the point of resistance).
This will activate the kickdown
function allowing you to change
down to the most suitable gear.

Driving in manual mode
With the gear lever in position D,
move the lever towards the left:
Pushing the lever repeatedly allows
at
you to change gears manually.
- To move down through the gears,
push the lever backwards.
- To move up through the gears,
push the lever forwards.
The gear selected is displayed on
the instrument panel.
Special conditions
In certain driving conditions (e.g.:
in order to protect the engine or
when ESP is engaged) the gearbox
may change gear automatically.
Likewise, to prevent
manoeuvres, a gear change may be
refused by the system: in this case
the gear display flashes for a few
seconds as a warning.
