4.1. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT
TAPE RECORDER SECTION
PRECAUTION
I . Clean the
following
Palts with
a
âlcohol-moistened swâb:
denatured-
record/plaYback head
erase head
capstans
2. Demagnetize the record/playback/erase head with
a head demagnetizer.
3. Do not use â magnetized screwdriver for the
adjustments.
4. After the adjustments, apply suitable locking com-
pound to the Parts adjusted.
5. The adjustments should be performed in the order
eiven in this service manual.
ADJUSTMENTS
Head Height Adiusltnent
Adjustmcnt Procedure:
1. Insert a mirror cassette CQ-009C.
2. Make the set to FWD playback mode.
3. Loosen the FWD tape guide fixing screw and
adjust with inserting the adjusting shim to eumi-
nate tape curl and tape twist i'l the portions of
tape guide and head.
4. Make the set to REV playback mode.
5. Loosen the REV tape guide fixing screw aûd
adjust with inserting the adjusting shim to elimi-
nate tape curl and tap€ twist in the portions of
tape guide and head.
6. After adjustmeflt, apply suitable locking com-
pound to the fixing screws.
