Assembly and adjustment
Also refer to your angle grinder manual.
DE8501 - Mounting and removing (fig. A)
• Remove the guard from the angle grinder and
place the tool on a table, spindle up.
• Remove both screws (8) from the diamond guard
and disassemble the front plate (1).
• Insert the spindle through the hole in the rear
plate (2) and tighten the three locking screws (13).
Make sure the slots (10) in the rear plate and the
adaptor plate (4) coincide.
• Rotate the angle grinder to the required position
and tighten the lock nut (9).
• Fit an appropriate diamond cutting disc.
• Mount the front plate (1). Make sure that the dust
extractor outlet (5) is properly caught in the
opening between front (1) and rear plate (2).
• Check that the spring (7) can move freely.
• Refit the screws (8).
• To remove the diamond guard, proceed in
reverse order.
DE8201 - Mounting
Angle grinders DW811, DW816 - (fig. A & B)
• Mount the large adaptor plate (4) using the
screws in the adaptor kit also supplied with the
diamond guard.
• Remove the guard from the angle grinder and
place the tool on a table, spindle up.
• Remove both screws (8) from the diamond guard
and disassemble the front plate (1).
• Align the cam on the adaptor plate with the
recess in the ring (14) on the gear case.
• Push the diamond guard down and rotate it in
the direction of the arrow.
• Fit an appropriate diamond cutting disc.
• Mount the front plate (1) as described for the
DE8501.
Angle grinders DW401, DW448, DW450(K),
DW451K, DW452(K), DW458(K), DW806 (fig. A & C)
• Mount the small adaptor plate to the rear of the
diamond guard using the screws in the adaptor
kit.

• Remove the guard from the angle grinder and
place the tool on a table, spindle up.
• Remove both screws (8) from the diamond guard
and disassemble the front plate (1).
• Align the cam on the adaptor plate with the
recess in the ring on the gear case.
• Push the diamond guard down and rotate it in
the direction of the arrow.
• Place the spacer(s) (15) over the spindle as shown.
• Fit an appropriate diamond cutting disc.
• Mount the front plate (1) as described for the
DE8501.
DE8201 - Removing (fig. D)
• Proceed in reverse order.
• After removal of the cutting disc, hold the angle
grinder and rotate the diamond guard in the
direction of the arrow.
• Press the lock (16) using a screwdriver until the
cam of the diamond guard slides over the lock.
• The diamond guard is now unlocked.
All models - Setting the maximum depth of cut
(fig. E)
• Loosen the depth adjustment star grip (6).
• Press the diamond guard until the pointer (17)
indicates the required maximum cutting depth.
• Tighten the depth adjustment star grip (6).
Instructions for use
• Always observe the safety instructions
and applicable regulations.
• Observe the safety instructions applying
to diamond cutting discs.
• Use a suitable diamond cutting disc
(check the data of the manufacturer).
• The maximum rotation speed of the
cutting disc must not be lower than the
no-load speed of the tool.
Cutting with the diamond guard (fig. A)
The diamond guard is used for cutting concrete and
masonry, when accurate cutting depth adjustment
or dust extraction are required.
• Mount the diamond guard to your angle grinder
as described above.
