QUICK INSTALLATION GUIDE - MARINE
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
1
Separate Helix Antenna from the Mounting Bracket by
removing the screws.
2
Connect the Marine Helix Antenna Pigtail Cable to the Marine
Helix Antenna:
Connect the Male SMA connector with the white label
marked B to the SMA connector marked RX BLUE.
Connect the other Male SMA Connector to the SMA
connector marked TX RED.
3
Re-connect the Helix Antenna to the Mounting Bracket:
Ensure the Marine Helix Antenna Pigtail cable runs
through the seal between the Helix Antenna and the
Mounting Bracket as illustrated.
Re-attach all screws.
4
Attach the Marine Helix Antenna to the Marine Mast (Not
included and must be previously installed).
5
Connect the Helix Antenna Pigtail Cable to the Coaxial
Antenna Cable. (Use coaxial sealant, shrink-wrap tubing, or
other suitable products to seal the external cable connections
to prevent moisture & corrosion damage.)
NOTE: Do not kink or pinch Coaxial Antenna and GPS
Antenna cables when brought through hatches and portholes.
- Coaxial Antenna Cable (LMR-100) Bend Radius = 0.25 in.
- Use tie wrap to secure cables.
6
Mount the GPS antenna on top of the vessel. (The GPS
Antenna must be at least 3 feet from the Helix Antenna.)
Connect the Coaxial Antenna Cable to the RX and TX ports on
7
the Sat-Fi2 RAS.
8
Connect the GPS Antenna Cable to the GPS port on the
Sat-Fi2 RAS.
9
Connect the Wi-Fi Antenna to the Wi-Fi port on the
Sat-Fi2 RAS.
10
Connect either the 12V DC Bare Wire** or 12V AC Wall
Adapter Power cable to the Power port on the Sat-Fi2 RAS.
NOTE: Power is 12-24 VDC nominal.

GUIDELINES FOR A MARINE INSTALLATION
There is more than one approach to mounting the Marine Helix Antenna, and
every vessel installation is different. Follow the below guidelines while installing
the marine antenna:
Pole Mount
GPS Antenna
1
Choose a location based on limited obstruction interference. The Marine
Helix Antenna should be mounted at the highest point on the vessel with
a 360° view of the sky as possible, from horizon to horizon, and should
not be mounted near any large obstruction such as:
Ship's funnel
6
Mast
Wheelhouse
Any obstruction can cause signal degradation. The amount of
Marine Mast
(Not included)
degradation depends on the size of the obstruction and distance from
the antenna. The table gives a guideline for obstruction sizes that will
cause limited degradation.
2
Choose a location based on proximity to other RF antenna sources,
radars and other ship equipment. The Marine Helix Antenna must
be mounted as far away as possible from the vessel's radar and other
RF sources.
Greater than 3 feet apart from another transmitting antenna
(including the GPS antenna).
3 feet away from the ship's magnetic compass
The Marine Helix Antenna should be 20° above or 20° below any radar
path. Below is the minimum acceptable separation between a radar
and the Marine Helix Antenna:
X-Band - 12 ft.
S-Band - 6 ft.
3
The Marine Helix Antenna and GPS antenna uses Coaxial Cables that
connect the antennas to the Sat-Fi2 RAS.
Use only the coaxial cables that come with the Sat-Fi2 Remote Antenna Station. Do not cut or modify the coaxial cables.
Do not use any additional coaxial antenna cables or non-Globalstar coaxial antenna cables - Either of these modifications may damage the
Sat-Fi2 Remote Antenna Station, void the warranty and violate various government regulations.

Use existing slots and channels on the vessel for routing.
Do not kink the coaxial cables.
SOS
Route cables at least 6 inches from vehicle electrical cables to avoid electrical interference.
Extended length coaxial cables are available (sold separately)
4
Mount the GAT-17MR Antenna to a standard Marine Mast.
Attach the Marine Helix Antenna to a standard 1"-14 threads per inch Marine Mast (not included).
Use appropriate and sufficient mounting hardware to ensure proper and secure installation of the Marine Mast (not included).
