6 - ENGINE

WARNING!
• With the engine idling (2500÷2800 rev/min), the extension rod (24, Fig. H) must not move. It is always advisable to
have carburettor settings done by your Dealer or Authorized Service Centre.
• Changes in climatic conditions and altitude can alter the way that carburetion occurs.
• In the event of appreciable engine power loss, check whether or not the air filter (28, Fig. M) is clogged or damaged,
and replace if necessary. Before reassembling the filter, remove the worst of the dirt from the inside of the cover
and the area around the filter.

6.2 Stopping the engine

Release the throttle trigger (12, Fig. C) and allow the engine to idle for a few seconds so that it can cool. Shut off the engine by
moving the lockout switch (10) to the STOP position.

6.3 Maintenance

6.3.1 Air filter

In the event of significant engine power loss, check whether or not the air filter (28) is clogged or damaged, and replace if
necessary. Before reassembling the filter, remove the worst of the dirt from the inside of the cover and the area around the filter.

6.3.2 Fuel filter

Check the state of the fuel filter (36, Fig. S) at periodic intervals. A dirty filter will make the engine difficult to start and adversely
affect its performance. To clean the filter, remove it via the fuel filler hole; if the filter is clogged, discard it and fit a new one.
6.3.3 Engine
Clean the cylinder fins periodically using a brush, as shown in figure (L), or with compressed air. A build-up of impurities on the
cylinder can lead to overheating that will prevent the engine from operating as it should.

6.3.4 Spark plug

It is important to clean the plug (37) periodically and check the gap between the electrodes (38) as shown in figure (T). Use a
Champion RCJ-7Y plug, or another make with an equivalent heat rating.

To guarantee constant and troublefree operation of the machine, remember that any parts becoming worn or damaged
should be replaced only with Emak original spare parts.

- MAINTENANCE

7.1 Routine maintenance

WARNING!
• Before commencing any maintenance work on the machine, turn off the engine (3).
• Any maintenance operations not covered on the pages of this publication must be entrusted to an authorized
service centre.
Routine maintenance tasks should be carried out by operators.

7.1.1 General

Before carrying out any maintenance:
• Set the lockout switch (10, Fig. C) to the STOP position.
• Wear protective gloves.

7.1.2 Topping-up the oil

• Top up the oil in the gear case if the level is low (8, Fig. A).
WARNING!
Topping-up to a level higher than necessary can cause oil to leak from around the shaft.
