2.1 Safety informa on

WARNING
• Do not use this product or any available optional equipment
without first completely reading and understanding these
instructions and any additional instructional material such
as user manuals, service manuals or instruction sheets
supplied with this product or optional equipment. Invacare
product manuals are available on the internet or your local
dealer (Addresses are displayed on the back cover of this
manual).
• If you are unable to understand the warnings, cautions
or instructions, please contact a healthcare professional,
dealer or technical personnel before attempting to use this
equipment – otherwise, injury or damage may occur.
WARNING
Invacare products are specifi cally designed and manufactured
for use in conjunc on with Invacare accessories. Accessories
designed by other manufacturers have not been tested by
Invacare and are not recommended for use with Invacare
products.
The introduc on of certain third party products between
the cushion surface and the user may reduce or impede the
clinical eff ec veness of this product.
'Third party products' may include, but are not limited to
items including under blankets, plas c sheets and sheepskins,
etc.
WARNING
Any object between the user and the pressure reducing sur-
face may result in the development of pressure ulcers.
• Make sure that the support surface in contact with the user
is kept free from crumbs and other food debris.
• Drip cables, stents and other foreign objects must not
become entrapped between the user and the pressure

reducing surface of the cushion.

Descrip on

3.1 Product descrip on

The Invacare Flotech® range of products consist of cushions, a back
support and a lumbar pad.
The cushion range is made of a unique, pressure reducing, ergono-
mically designed green foam, which is moulded to provide postural
support. The foam incorporates a deodorising addi ve which helps to
keep the foam odour free for longer.
The back support has been designed using unique, ergonomically
designed green foam, to provide stability to a wheelchair or standard
armchair. It can be used in conjunc on with any Flotech® cushion.
The Flotech® range also includes the Flotech® lumbar pad, which is
designed to be used on chairs or wheelchairs and can improve posture,
comfort and support.
The cushion consists of the following parts:
The inner layer consists of foam made from diff erent shapes and densi-
es depending on the model. The Flotech® Plus, Image, Solu on, Deep
and Solu on Xtra cushions also equipped with fl uid-Packs for op miza-
on of pressure distribu on. The fl uid-Packs are composed of medical
grade silicone and are non-toxic.
The outer cover is made from an internally coated bi-elas c mate-
rial and has an an -slip base with a handle at the front edge of the
cushion.
