WELCOME TO LINEAR ACOUSTIC ARC!
Congratulations on your purchase of ARC, the Automatic Realtime Control for television broadcast
loudness control. We know that you're anxious to get started, so this quick start guide (QSG) will take you
from 'out of the box' to 'up and running' as quickly as possible, taking you through the steps to prepare
the ARC to process audio using an HD/SD-SDI (up to 3G) source.

REAR CONNECTORS

Plug each of the ARC's two power supplies into two different AC power circuits.
Plug an Ethernet cable from your network into the Control Ethernet port on the back of ARC.
Connect your SDI source to the ARC SDI input on the rear panel, and the ARC SDI Output to your desired
destination.
See Figure 1.

  • Page 2 NETWORK SETUP CONFIGURING NETWORK CONTROL When the unit is ready the ARC display will light up as shown in Figure 2 below. Figure 2 - ARC display and navigation To the right of the display there are 4 navigation buttons and an OK button. Press the right button until the IP Configuration (Control) edit screen is visible as shown in Figure 3, below.
  • Page 3 SETUP VIA BROWSER INTERFACE CONNECTING TO ARC USING A BROWSER The user interface to the ARC uses an HTML 5 web browser on any platform. Firefox and Chrome are both recommended. Using any PC on the same network and subnet as ARC, enter the ARC IP address. For this example, enter 192.168.1.5.
  • Page 4 SETUP VIA BROWSER INTERFACE CONFIGURING I/O Select I/O, then select Reference Clock and select SDI. The Reference Clock indicator will show SDI as the primary source, and a green light ARC is locked to the SDI clock. A secondary sync source can be selected if desired.
  • Page 5 SETUP VIA BROWSER INTERFACE The SDI Output dropdown is shown in Figure 8. The output embedding router allows you to select the 2 x processed outputs as well as any of the SDI input pairs, the AES-3 input or any of 8 x AES67 pairs to be embedded.
  • Page 6 LOUDNESS PRESETS SELECTING A LOUDNESS CONTROL PRESET Select Program 1. If there is an SDI program source you will see both input and output meters working. Under APTO Loudness Control select Load and Factory Profiles. There are profiles (presets) for several national loudness standards and several general programming types as well.
