Many malfunctions and faults that can occur in daily operation can be easily
remedied. Time and money will be saved because a service call will not be
needed.
The following guide may help you to find the reason for a malfunction or a fault,
and to correct it.
To prevent unnecessary loss of temperature it is advisable not to open the door
while waiting for the appliance to be serviced.
Problem
The appliance is not
cooling.
The compressor runs
continuously.
The compressor is
switching on more fre-
quently and for longer
periods of time. The
temperature in the refri-
geration appliance is
too low.
Cause and remedy
The appliance has not been switched on.
 Switch the appliance on.
The mains plug is not inserted in the socket correctly
or the plug connector is not inserted into the socket
at the back of the appliance correctly.
 Insert the mains plug into the mains socket and
the plug connector into the appliance socket cor-
rectly and switch on.
The mains fuse has tripped. There could be a fault
with the appliance, the household electrical wiring or
another electrical appliance.
 Contact a qualified electrician or Miele.
This is not a fault. To save energy, the compressor
runs at a lower speed, but for longer, when less
cooling is required.
The ventilation gaps in the housing unit have been
covered or the ventilation gaps in the housing unit,
the compressor and the metal grille (heat exchanger)
at the back of the appliance are dusty.
 Do not block the ventilation gaps.
 Dust the ventilation gaps, the compressor and the
heat exchanger regularly.
The appliance door has been opened too frequently,
or a large amount of fresh food has been placed in
the appliance for freezing.
 Only open the appliance door when necessary and
for as short a time as possible.
