Starting Up the System

WARNING
PRESSURIZED EQUIPMENT HAZARD
To help reduce the risk of injury or equip-
ment damage:
Make sure all material hose connec-
tions and hydraulic hose connections
are secure.
Do not pressurize the system until
you have verified the system is ready
and it is safe to do so.
Do not exceed 0.7 MPa (7 bar) (100 psi)
maximum inbound air pressure to the
hydraulic power supply. Exceeding the
pressure can cause the equipment to
rupture, malfunction, or start unexpect-
edly and result in serious injury.
CAUTION
To help avoid damage to equipment, be sure to
open the dispense valve during system heatup to
alleviate pressure which might occur in the system
due to material expansion.
1. Check all material hoses and fittings to insure
tightness and to prevent any material leakage.
2. Check all hydraulic hoses and fittings to insure
tightness and to prevent any hydraulic fluid leak-
age.
3. Check all system air, hydraulic, and electrical lines.
Make sure that all routing of air, hydraulic, and
electrical lines will not interfere with any moving
components within the fixture.
4. Check that the hydraulic fluid regulator on the
hydraulic power supply has been set to the ap-
propriate hydraulic pressure. For more informa-
tion, see Form# 310–533.

Installation
5. Raise the ram, using the following procedure:
a. Close all air regulators.
b. Move the ram hand valve lever to the UP posi-
c. Slowly open the air regulators until the ram
6. Raise and lower the ram 5 or 6 times to bleed air
from the hydraulic system.
7. Check the hydraulic fluid level on the hydraulic
supply unit. Add more hydraulic fluid if necessary.
See Form# 310–533 for more information about
adding hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic power sup-
ply.
8. After you have bled the air from the hydraulic
system, raise the follower plate to above the height
of the material drum to be used, then move the
ram hand valve lever to OFF.
9. Turn the electrical disconnect ON.
10. On the electrical control panel, turn the CONTROL
ON switch to ON.
11. Check the temperature controller set points and
change them if necessary. See Setting Set Point
Temperatures on page 15.
12. Wait until all system zones are heated to their pre-
set temperatures. Go to the next section, Initial
Material Loading.
tion.
starts to move upwards. Do not apply more
than 0.7 MPa (7 bar) (100 psi) inbound air
pressure to the hydraulic supply.
If the ram does not move in the expected
direction, check that you have correctly con-
nected the hydraulic lines and air lines. For
more information, see the procedure for
Installing the Hydraulic Power Supply in
Form# 310–533, Hydraulic-Powered Ram
Modules instructions.
