In particular, it is absolutely essential that all safety-relevant work and all work on safety-relevant systems is
performed by a qualified specialist workshop.

Switch off retarder.
Stop the vehicle as soon as possible taking into account
the traffic situation.
Apply parking brake and shift automatic transmission to
neutral.
Run engine at a speed of 1200 – 1500 rpm for 2 – 3 min-
utes and then switch off engine.
If the transmission oil temperature does not drop, check
transmission oil level, see page 50.
If the fault reoccurs, contact a qualified specialist work-
shop.

The display shows the number of the fault code, e.g. D1,
and then a 5-digit fault code, e.g. P 25 11, in
succession.
Press the MODE button to display the next fault code. A
maximum of 5 fault codes can be stored.
