AFTER USE

1. DO NOT remove the facemask until
well clear of the hazard area.
2. The mask must be cleaned after
use. DO NOT use solvent, detergent or
abrasive cleaners that may damage the
mask. After any service procedure the
leak-test described
performed to ensure that the mask is safe
to use.
3. Replace the filter cover(s). Check
that the filter(s) is/are not clogged,
saturated or time expired. Filters found to
be in this condition must be renewed.
4. Sponge the
synthetic sponge moistened in a warm
solution of water and TriGene
and sanitise the mask. Take care not to
scratch the visor.
5. Flush the exhale valve under clean
running water and check that it is in good
condition.
6. Hang the mask by the head
harness away from direct sunlight and
high temperatures until completely dry.
Store carefully to ensure that the visor
cannot become damaged, in a cool,
clean, dry, location, away from direct
sunlight.
7. Perform the leak-test as described
above.

Faceseal and Inner Mask:
During pre and post-use inspections and
at the stipulated maintenance intervals,
inspect for holes, surface damage or
excessive distortion, particularly around
the faceseal. Replace as necessary. The
faceseal and inner mask should be
replaced every 5 years, regardless of
condition.

Exhalation Valve Flap:
This should appear as-new, showing no
signs of damage.
The valve flap is marked with a code
indicating the year and year quarter of
manufacture (see Fig. 1). The number
stamped on the valve flap is the year of
manufacture. The dot, stamped in the
relevant quadrant, is the quarter of the
year in which manufacture took place.
One dot = January to March, two dots =
April to June, three dots = July to
September and four dots = October to
December.
In the example shown in Fig. 1, the valve
flap was manufactured between October
and December in 2004.
Exhalation valve flaps must be replaced
at least annually, regardless of condition.
Inhalation Valve Flaps:
Inhalation valve flaps must be replaced
annually, regardless of condition.
O-Rings:
O-Rings must be replaced annually,
regardless of condition.
