3.8. EXPLANATIONS AND NOTES

It is necessary to swipe the finger successfully
over the sensor four times when a new fingerprint
template is being enrolled. This enables the device
to get the best image possible and, in so doing, it
drastically reduces the possibility of subsequent
unsuccessful identification. Sometimes the ARX-
manager will require more than four swipes for
successful enrolment. This can happen for various
reasons: The fingerprint image was too small, the
finger was wet or dirty (the ARX-manager can usually
identify a fingerprint even with wet and greasy
fingers but in the enrolment phase it is better to
have clean hands). There is enough time to attempt
the enrolment swipe seven times.
When a new template is being enrolled there is a
fifteen second interval after each swipe in which
the finger must be swiped again. If the finger has
not been swiped, the ARX-manager will return to
the previous function after fifteen seconds. If the
enrolment procedure has not been carried out in
less than one minute, the device will return to the
previous function.
Any changes performed during the connection are
being stored. Even if the connection has been lost
because you have distanced yourself from the device
or because of any other reason, the procedure can
be continued from where it was interrupted once
you have re-established the connection.
You can connect only with one portable device at
one time. Once you have connected to the device,
it will require the administrator to swipe their finger

over the sensor (except at start up, when it is still
empty). If the administrator fails to swipe their
finger over the sensor within 20 s, the connection
will be automatically interrupted.
The same fingerprint cannot be enrolled in the
database more than once.
There are different phones and therefore, the
command keys can be differently distributed
according to the telephone type.
