5. BATTERY REMOVAL AnD DiSPOSAL

5.1
Removal
nOTE: The RoadStart battery is a sealed, lead-acid type. By law, it must be removed and recycled, or disposed of properly, according to
national and/or local regulations.
5.1.1
Remove the screws from the rear panel and lift off from the unit enclosure.
5.1.2
Disconnect the wires from the two battery terminals, taking care to avoid accidental arcing of the terminals.
5.1.3
Lift the battery out of the casing.

Disposal
5.2.1
Take the battery to a recycling centre that handles sealed, lead-acid batteries.
5.2.2
If there is no recycling centre in the area, contact the local environmental agency for disposal instructions.

6. TROUBLESHOOTinG

THE PROBLEM
You connect to the charger for 20 hours and there is no change in
charge level.
Charge level reads low, but when the AC adaptor is plugged into the
Roadstart, the needle flicks right.
Roadstart is fully charged but has no power.

Check charger to see if it is charging. Charger should be warm.
Check all wire connections.
The internal battery of the Roadstart needs to be replaced.
Check where the wire meets the jaw on the Roadstart clamp. Make
sure they are well crimped.

condition of the vehicle, engine type and size.

Room temperature. The RoadStart will also operate at temperatures below zero, its
power however will be lessened. Intense heat will activate self-discharge.
