2.3.6 Cleaning

The MX300 and R17MED sensor are non-sterile devices.
The oxygen monitor, oxygen sensor, and sensor interconnection cable may
be cleaned by wiping the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaning solu-
tion.
When cleaning, do not allow liquids or moisture to enter the Monitor or
sensor internal cavities. Do not expose the electrical connections to the cleaning
solution. Do not immerse the Monitor, oxygen sensor or sensor interconnection
cable in water or any other liquid.
Do not expose the Monitor, oxygen sensor and interconnection cable to
steam, ethylene oxide, or radiation sterilization.
After cleaning, ensure that all surfaces are dry and the Monitor is properly
calibrated before using the Monitor.

2.4 Dos and Don'ts

– DO –
Read and understand the manual before using the Monitor
Calibrate every 8 hours or before every use.
Visually inspect the sensor for leakage before each use.
Calibrate using 100% oxygen and check in air.
Check the HI and LO alarm settings prior to each use.
Test batteries regularly and replace when battery indicator shows low
battery (no bars)
Keep the Monitor, sensor and connections dry, or on the dry side of
the breathing system.
Recalibrate after replacing the batteries.
Recalibrate after replacing the sensor.
Use only alkaline batteries.
Ensure that the R17MED sensor is properly connected to the Monitor.
Always use the plastic flow diverter when using the tee adapter.
Remove and save the plastic flow diverter when using the sensor in
non-flowing applications
