Stop!
If you suspect that the energizer is not working, then
follow these steps:
- Disconnect the energizer from the fence.
- Check that the energizer's indicator light is flashing.
- Check the battery connections.
- Check the battery voltage using a multimeter
(voltage range).
- With the energizer still disconnected from the fence,
check the energizer's output voltage using a digital
voltmeter. The voltage between the fence output
terminal and the fence earth terminal should be greater
than 3000 V.
- If these tests are OK, then there is an installation
problem or a fault with the fence wire. Check the
wire for breakages and bad connection points and the
earth system of the energiser.

Before first use

Before using the energizer for the
first time, you must:
1. Connect the battery (the positive terminal is discon-
nected before shipping).
2. Charge the battery for three days by placing the
energizer in full sunlight with the solar panel facing
true south.

Connecting the positive terminal
on the battery
1. Place the energizer with the solar panel facing
downwards on a flat surface. Undo the two screws
securing the battery compartment.
2. Slide the battery compartment away from the
energizer to expose the battery.
3. Connect the positive (red) lead to the positive (+)
terminal on the battery.
4. Slide the battery compartment back into place and
secure it with the two screws.
