Running the Locomotive with the Engineer's Cab
When running the locomotive with the engineer's cab, the
locomotive behaves generally different than when running
it with the usual locomotive controllers. The difference is
that with the usual locomotive controllers a speed level is
set while in the engineer's cab you are working with control
elements typical of the locomotive.
The following notes should help you manage better when
running the locomotive with the engineer's cab:
First, turn the steam valve open.
Using the valve to fill and empty the boiler, first fill the
boiler about 2/3 with water.
After that, the boiler must be warmed up for example
with the function Shoveling coal (firebox).
When enough boiler pressure has been reached, the
locomotive can begin to move.
The next thing to check is whether the brakes have been
released.
Then the direction and the steam admitted to the cylin-
ders are set using the reversing lever.
The steam pressure from the boiler to the cylinders can
then be done by means of the valve.
Set the reverse lever back to the center position to stop
the locomotive and then set the brakes.
After that, release the brakes again.
Caution:
Keep an eye on the boiler pressure and the water level
sight glass while the locomotive is running.
