ESXi Software Configuration

ESXi must be configured to enable monitoring of the server using SNMP . To
configure SNMP in ESXi:
1 Configure the SNMP settings in ESX Server by using VMware RCLI. The
following commands must be executed from the server where VMware
RCLI is installed:
Configure the SNMP setting using the following command:

vicfg-snmp --server <ESX_IP_Address> --username
root --password <password> -c <community_name>
-t <ITAIP>@162/<community_name>
Enable SNMP using the following command:

vicfg-snmp --server <ESX_IP_Address> --username
root --password <password> -E
To view the SNMP configuration, execute the following command:

vicfg-snmp --server <ESX_IP_Address> --username
root --password <password> -s
2 Perform discovery and inventory of the server using IT Assistant.
Perform discovery and inventory of the ESX server system interface

using SNMP
Perform discovery and inventory of the DRAC interface using IPMI.

Once discovered, the ESX server is ready to be monitored using IT
Assistant. SNMP traps from the ESX server can be received in IT Assistant.
