If you notice a typing mistake before you press
Backspace to the mistake, and retype to the
end of the line.
Press
ESC
to exit the line you are typing and
start over.
If you use
ESC
to end a line, the system prompt
does not reappear. Type the command line, and
press
ENTER
to execute it.

Y O U have two choices:
Special Keys
The following keys and key combinations have
special significance to
MS-DOS.
SPACE
BAR-Moves
the cursor (the blinking under-
line character displayed on the screen) one space
to the right, and adds a space to a line.
CTRL-Lets
you give commands to your computer
by pressing only two or three keys. Press and hold
CTRL.
Then, while you hold
CTRL,
press the other
keys.
BACKSPACE-Moves
the cursor left one character
and erases the character in that position.
CTRL+
c
or
CTRL+
BREAK-Stops
the execution of
an
MS-DOS
command or a program that uses MS-
DOS
functions. If the program does not access
MS-DOS,
the program does not recognize this key
combination. (The computer might take a few sec-
onds to recognize the key combination.)
CTRL+ PRTSC
or
CTRL+
-Sends
each character of
output to the printer. Press the combination again
to stop print echo.
PRTsc-Sends the current display to the printer.
ESc-Terminates
the current line without process-
ing it, and performs a carriage return. (The cursor
moves down one line and returns to the left mar-
