Connection and communication with devices

The system can be configured and firmware can be updated when the bicycle is connected to a device (PC/tablet).
You need E-TUBE PROJECT to configure SHIMANO STEPS and update firmware.
Download an E-TUBE PROJECT from the support website (http://e-tubeproject.shimano.com).
For information on how to install an E-TUBE PROJECT, check the support website.
• SM-PCE1/SM-PCE02 is needed to connect SHIMANO STEPS to a PC. SMJC40/JC41 will be needed in the following situations.
- There are no free E-TUBE ports on the cycle computer (for example, if using electronic gear shifting)
- If connecting the switch unit by itself to the PC
• Firmware is subject to change without notice.
• PC connection and communication are not possible when charging the battery. Do not connect to a device while the
battery is being charged.

The wireless unit transmits all the information from the main screen of the cycle computer.
Bluetooth

E-TUBE PROJECT for smartphones/tablets may be used if a Bluetooth LE connection is established using a smartphone/tablet.
E-TUBE RIDE can be used to check traveling data on a smartphone connected over Bluetooth® LE, even when using EW-
EN100.
How to make a connection
To make a connection, the device connected to SC-E6100, SC-E7000, or EW-EN100 needs to be in connection mode. For
information on how to switch the device to connection mode, refer to the manual for the device.
2.4 GHz digital wireless system
2.4 GHz-frequency digital wireless technology is the same technology used for wireless LAN communication.
However, on very rare occasions, the following and places may generate strong electromagnetic waves and interference,
which may result in incorrect measurements.
• When near televisions, computers, radios and motors/engines, or when riding in car and trains.
• When near railroad crossings or railway tracks, and around television transmitting stations and radar bases.
• Around other wireless computers or digitally controlled light.
