Chapter 1. Overview This chapter begins with a general description of Comet 16xx Series. Then, the chapter describes how to use TAINET Comet 16xx Series in several applications. Overview DSL (Digital Subscriber Loop) technologies increase the bandwidth capacity of existing ubiquitous telephone line (the local copper loops). G.SHDSL is designed for business applications, where high speed is required in both transmission directions.

Figure 2-1 shows the general Point To Point applications using two Comet 16xx Series. One unit is configured as a central office site (CO) unit and the other is the customer premise equipment (CPE) unit.
