10.5 NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT ___________________________________________________

The mower must not move with the steering control levers in the Neutral position and the parking brake disengaged.
The neutral adjustment must be done separately for the left and right side axles.
To adjust the neutral position:
1.
Lift the mower so the rear wheels are off the ground. Disengage the
left side control linkage from the control arm.
Make sure the mower is parked on a solid and level surface. Never
work on a mower that is supported only by the jack. Always use jack
stands. Put chocks in front of and behind the front wheels.
To prevent injury, do not adjust the neutral setting with the engine
running.
When you check the drive axle neutral adjustment, the rear wheels may turn. To prevent injury, use caution to
prevent contact with the wheels.
2.
Start the engine, move the throttle lever to the fast position and disengage the parking brake. Note if the left rear
wheel rotates and the direction the wheel rotates. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine. Do not adjust
the neutral setting with the engine running.

If the wheel does rotate, proceed with Step 3.

the neutral screw.
