Connect the Solenoid (color coded) cables to the (color coded) terminals of the Electric
Winch as shown on page 6, bottom, left. Securely tighten nuts and cover with rubber
insulators.

Route the red and black battery cables from the Electric Winch to the battery location.
Caution: Battery cables should not be drawn taut. Leave slack for some cable move-
ment. Do not route cables near moving engine parts.
9.
Connect the Solenoid Assembly red (positive) Battery Cable (34) to the positive (+)
terminal clamp on the 12 volt battery. Securely tighten.
10. Connect the Solenoid Assembly black (negative) Battery Cable (33) to the negative
(—) terminal clamp on the 12 volt battery. Securely tighten.
If the battery cannot accommodate two cable connections, a new, dual connection
terminal lug will be needed (not supplied).
11. Disengage the clutch by moving the Clutch Handle Assy (4) to the Out position.
12. Pull the Aircraft Wire Rope (38) cable through the Fairlead.
13. Test Electric Winch for proper operation. Refer to the Operation section, below.
Note: The vehicle battery must be fully charged and the engine running before using
the Electric Winch.

Disengage the clutch by moving the Clutch Handle Assy (4) to the Out position.
2.
Grab the Aircraft Wire Rope (38) hook and pull the cable to the desired length, then
attach to item being pulled.
Caution: Always leave at least four turns of cable on the drum. Review Winch Safety
Warnings and Precautions on page 3 before continuing.

Reengage the clutch by moving the Clutch Handle Assy (4) to the In position.
4.
Lift the Connector Cover on the Solenoid Cover (31), exposing the connector for the
Handheld Remote Switch Assy. (32), and plug in its connector.
Caution: Always be aware that the hook, while under pressure, could come loose from the
object being pulled, resulting in personal injury and/or property damage as the loose
hook and cable move about erratically.
Caution: Injury or death could occur if this Electric Winch comes apart from its mounting
location when it is under load. For that reason it should only be installed by a qualified
technician.
5.
While standing aside of the tow path, press (and hold) the IN pushbutton on the Switch
Assy. to pull the load.
Press (and hold) the OUT pushbutton to release the load. Wait until the motor stops
before reversing directions.
