  • Page 3 Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this tool was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended.
  • Page 4 Winch Warnings and Precautions Keeps hands and body away from Fairlead (cable intake slot) when operating. Secure vehicle in position with the emergency brake and wheel blocks before using winch. Never keep the vehicle in Park or in gear while using the Electric Winch. Do not exceed winch load weight capacity (see Specifications on page 2).

Installation Warning: Injury or death could occur if this Electric Winch comes apart from its mount- ing location when it is under load.
  • Page 6 Mounting Frame (not supplied) Mount Fairlead Here 4a. Optionally, the Electric Winch can be mounted directly to a solid, flat steel assembly on the vehicle specifically designed to accommodate an Electric Winch. The vehicle’s solid (3/8”) steel assembly must be directly attached to the vehicle frame to withstand the 9,000 pound capacity of the Electric Winch.

    Connect the Solenoid (color coded) cables to the (color coded) terminals of the Electric Winch as shown on page 6, bottom, left. Securely tighten nuts and cover with rubber insulators. Route the red and black battery cables from the Electric Winch to the battery location. Caution: Battery cables should not be drawn taut.

    Note how the existing cable is connected to the inside of the drum. Remove old Cable Assembly and attach new one. Caution: Do not replace with inferior cable. Always use the approved replacement part from Harbor Freight Tools. Retract Cable Assembly onto cable drum being careful not to allow kinking. General Keep battery in good condition.
