Model: iB50BX
Stereo Headphones
with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
and In-Line Microphone
The iHome iB50BX headphones include Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) circuitry designed to reduce or
eliminate certain background noises, such as airplane engine noise, to give you a quieter, more enjoyable
listening experience. When the ANC circuit is switched 'On', a microphone inside each earpiece 'listens'
for extraneous noise that is not part of your music, and the ANC circuit then generates an opposite sound
wave designed to eliminate or greatly reduce the extraneous noise. The ANC circuit is powered by two
"AAA" batteries, included. These headphones also include an in-line microphone on the detachable cable
that allows you to answer incoming phone calls and control your music playback.

Installing The Batteries
Although the headphones can be used without batteries, the Active Noise Cancellation circuit will not
operate unless the batteries are properly installed.
Note: The ANC On/Off switch was set to the 'Off' position at our factory.
The battery compartment is located inside the R earpiece. To
open the battery compartment cover, press with your thumb at
the top of the cover as shown to release the locking tab and
slide the cover downward to remove it.
Insert the two "AAA" batteries into the battery compartment as
shown. Be sure to install the batteries in the correct polarity (+/-)
according to the markings in the battery compartment. If the
batteries are inserted incorrectly the ANC circuit will not operate.
After installing the batteries, replace the battery compartment
cover and make sure it is completely flat against the earpiece
with no gap at the bottom.
Batteries information
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbone-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
Connect The Detachable Cable
Connect the detachable headphone cable to the jack on the
bottom of the L earpiece. The cable should be connected with
the in-line microphone closest to the L earpiece as shown. Make
sure that the plug is fully inserted into the jack. If the plug is not
fully inserted the sound may be intermittent, or you may only hear
sound from one of the earpieces.
Connect the other end of the detachable cable to the headphone
jack of your external music source such as an iPod, iPhone, iPad, MP3 player, personal CD player, etc.
Again, make sure that the plug on the detachable cable is fully inserted into the headphone jack of your
external music source.
Listening to Music
• Begin playback of your external music source and adjust the volume level of your external device
to approximately 50% of maximum volume.
• Place the iB50BX headphones on your head according to the L and R markings on the
earpieces. When worn properly the detachable cable will be on your left side. Slide the L and R
earpieces up or down to achieve the most comfortable fit.
• Adjust the volume control on your external device to a comfortable listening level.
• To reduce or eliminate extraneous noise, such as the engine roar in an airplane cabin, slide the
ANC On/Off switch to the 'On' position. The ANC LED indicator turns red when the ANC circuit is 'On'.
• When you are finished listening slide the ANC switch to the 'Off' position to extend the life of the
batteries. The ANC LED indicator goes 'Off'. Also remember to shut off the power of your external
music source.
Using The Mute Button
Depress the Mute button on the L earpiece to temporarily mute the sound so that you can hear
someone speaking to you without removing the headphones.
Release the Mute button to resume normal operation.
NOTE: Make sure the batteries are installed and the Noise Cancellation function must be in the ON
position for the MUTE function to operate.

Using the 2-Prong Airline Adapter
Some older aircraft have audio/visual systems that use dual headphone
jacks in the armrests of their seats. To use your iB50BX headphones
with this type of A/V system, insert the plug of the headphone cable into
the jack of the included 2-prong adapter as shown and insert the
2-prong adapter into the dual jacks in the armrest of your seat.
Using The In-Line Controller With Microphone
Model iB50BX includes an in-line, one-button controller that allows you to answer and end phone
calls 'hands-free'. You may also be able to record voice memos and control the music playback if your
specific phone model provides for control of those features through the headphone jack.
Note:
Not all of the hands free functions are available on all phones. You may find that some functions
may work with your phone while others do not. This is due to the design of your specific phone and
is not an indication of any problem with your headphone.
Answer / End Calls
When an incoming call is received briefly press the controller button once to answer the call and
speak into the microphone. To end the call, briefly press the controller button again.
Music Playback Control
If your phone or music player provides for this feature through its headphone jack press the controller
button once to begin playback and once again to pause playback. Press the controller button twice
to skip to the next track, or three times to skip back to the previous track.
Voice Memo Recording
If your phone or music player provides for this feature through its headphone jack, place your phone
in the Voice Memo Recording mode, then press the controller button briefly to begin voice recording
and speak into the microphone. Press again to end the recording. Note: To listen to your voice memo
recording you must use the controls on your phone. You cannot access recorded voice memos from
the iB50BX in-line controller.
Voice Control Function
If your phone allows certain voice control commands through its headphone jack you may be able
to perform some or all of those functions from the iB50BX controller. Press and hold the controller
button and speak your command into the microphone, then release the controller button.
Travel Pouch
To keep your headphones clean, store them in the included travel pouch when not in use. The L
and R earpieces fold flat for convenient storage.
Replacing the Batteries
The two "AAA" batteries should provide over 60 hours of continuous operation with the ANC circuit
'On'. If you notice that the ANC circuit is no longer providing any noticeable noise reduction, or that
the ANC LED indicator does not turn 'On', it's time to replace the batteries.
We recommend that you use a well-known brand of alkaline batteries for longest life and best
performance.
Follow the 'Installing The Batteries' instructions above to replace the batteries.
IMPORTANT! Listening at high volume for long periods of time can result in long-term hearing
damage. For your safety, do not use headphones if they would prevent you from hearing warning
sounds, such as while driving a car or motorcycle, riding a bike, etc. Remember that studio monitor
style headphones such as the iB50BX may block outside noise, including warning sounds. Always be
aware of your surroundings and do not use these headphones in situations that require you to hear
Press
warning sounds.
