    ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS NOTE: The assembly of your MAK 2 Star Grill requires (2) two people. Before starting the assembly process, remove the outer cardboard sleeve surrounding the grill. Flatten the sleeve and use it to place the grill body on during leg panel assembly. Be sure to remove ALL parts and components from the grill and pallet before starting the assembly process.
  • Page 13 1-8 When you are finished attaching the right leg panel to the bottom shelf, lay the right leg panel down on top of the cardboard surround and attach the left leg panel by repeating steps 1-4 through 1-6. You have now completed assembling the grill cart.
  • Page 14 STEP 3: ATTACHING THE GRILL BODY TO THE GRILL CART NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT ALL (4) FOUR CASTERS ARE LOCKED BEFORE STARTING THIS PART OF THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS. 3-1 Using one other person, lift the pellet hopper and grill body assembly on to the cart and gently set it down on the leg panels on each side of the cart.

    FLAMEZONE™ DIRECT GRILLING SYSTEM SET-UP There are (5) five main components to the FlameZone™ direct grilling system: 1)The Grease Tray (outer frame) sits inside the barbecue body on the lip which runs around the entire perimeter of the cooking chamber. It channels grease and dripping from the cooking chamber into the (2) two quart grease drawer.
  • Page 18 Once the Grease Tray is properly installed, you will want to put the square Heat Diffuser in place by slipping it over the handles in the center of the Grease Tray. Make sure that you are able to see the embossed word TOP on the top of the Heat Diffuser.

    READ THIS BEFORE USING YOUR GRILL! Warning: This unit will get extremely hot! Only touch handles while operating this grill. START UP AND SEASONING PROCEDURES Make sure each of the interior grill components (firepot, triangular grease shield, ash clean out cover, FlameZone™ pan system and cooking grates) are installed correctly and in proper position before proceeding! Start Up Procedure: 1) Fill hopper with hardwood barbecue pellets.
  • Page 20 Changing Pellets: To change the variety of pellets you are using, place a container under the pellet hopper dump door. 1) Change pellets before starting the grill. 2) Turn the bezel on the pellet hopper dump door counter-clockwise until you can pull the dump door open. Allow the pellets to flow into the container below the pellet hopper dump.

    ® PELLET BOSS PERATING NSTRUCTIONS ON/OFF BUTTON This button is on the left-hand side of the Pellet Boss® control faceplate. To turn the grill on or off, press the button once. STAR BUTTON The STAR button is used to activate different functions and screens.
  • Page 22 PELLET BOSS ® & S CREEN ISPLAY ESCRIPTIONS ETTINGS Screen Display- SETPOINT TEMPERATURE Description: Shows the temperature setting for the main cooking chamber. NOTE: When you first turn on the grill, the default SETPOINT temperature is SMOKE. Settings: The SETPOINT temperature can be changed in (5) five degree increments from 200F to 450F.

  • Page 24 Screen Display-ELAPSED TIMER Description: Keeps track of the total amount of cooking time. When activated, the timer counts up in both hours and minutes. Settings: Press the RIGHT button on the Pellet Boss® until ELASPED TIMER is reached. Press the STAR button to start the ELAPSED TIMER. To stop the ELAPSED TIMER, press the STAR button again.

  • Page 26 What To Do: Check to see if there is a grease fire in the grill. If so, immediately turn the grill completely OFF. Ÿ Remove the food from the grill and shut the lid until the fire dies out. Ÿ Once the grease fire is out restart the grill.
  • Page 27 Check the internal temperature with another probe or thermometer. If Ÿ the temperature is lower than 225F, it would indicate that the probe has stopped working. Contact MAK Grills for a replacement. Power Interruption: Description: The Pellet Boss® will beep and the display screen will show POWER INTERRUPTION.
  • Page 28 Wi-FI Web Control Time Out: Description: This alert function will only take place if you have installed the MAK Grills Mobile™ Wi-Fi on your Pellet Boss®. The display will read TIME OUT and the Pellet Boss® will beep continuously for (10) ten minutes, or until the alarm has been turned off.
  • Page 29 Hopper Open Description: Alerts you that the pellet hopper door is open or not fully engaging with the auger stop switch. The Pellet Boss® display will show HOPPER OPEN. What To Do: Close the hopper lid. If the Pellet Boss® display still says HOPPER OPEN, check the alignment of the auger stop switch attached to the left outside wall of the pellet hopper and the magnet on the inside lip of the hoper lid for proper alignment.
  • Page 30 Screen Display: COOL & SHUT DOWN Description: This screen appears whenever you press the ON/OFF button to turn the grill OFF. The fan will continue to run to help burn all of the unburnt pellets in the firepot, and help to cool down the grill. The cool down sequence will run for approximately (20) twenty minutes.

In the event that you will need to do any grill repairs, you will have a better idea where to locate and correctly plug in a component.

    CLEANING YOUR MAK GRILL In order to keep your MAK looking as good as new and operating correctly, follow these recommended cleaning/maintenance guidelines. Take care of your MAK, and it will take good care of you! NOTE: Let grill cool completely before attempting any cleaning. EXTERIOR: 4 Stainless Steel: It is recommended that every time you want to cook on your 2 Star, that you wipe down your grill lid, (front and back)
  • Page 33 INTERIOR: 4 Ash Clean Out: When there is sufficient pellet ash accumulation in the bottom of the barbecue, remove the square ash clean out cover and brush the ash through the square opening. The ash will fall into the (2) two quart grease drawer located on the right underside of the barbecue body.
  • Page 34 Grease Shield: Soak in hot, soapy water. If needed, use a piece of steel wool or a stiff brush to clean. Rinse under running water. Dry with a soft cloth or towel. Thermocouple: In order to maintain proper temperature control of your grill, it's important to keep the Thermocouple clean.

  • Page 36 WINTERIZING YOUR GRILL If you won’t be using your MAK for an extended period of time during the wet months, we strongly advise that you empty the pellet hopper and auger tube and firepot of all pellets. This will prevent the pellets from absorbing ambient moisture in the air and jamming your auger.

    This is an indication that your igniter is going out. Ÿ Follow the instructions for turning off your igniter on page 38. Ÿ Contact your dealer or MAK GRILLS about getting a replacement igniter. Ÿ Follow Manual Lighting Procedure steps until you replacement igniter arrives.
  • Page 39 FAN DOES NOT RUN Ÿ The fan should operate any time the power is turned on. If the fan is not running, unplug the power cord, remove the fan/access panel to get to the back of the controller. Make sure that the wire labeled fan is plugged into the blue receptacle.
