Appendix B – Glossary
Feature Attributes
An attribute defines the properties of a feature. Refer to the Sentinel Keys
Toolkit Help for a list of feature attributes.
Feature ID
An identifier of a feature in the license template. It is assigned by the Toolkit
while a feature is created.
Feature Instance
Refers to a feature with attributes defined. When Shell and API features are
added in the License Designer screen, the default feature instances are
said to be created.
Additional (new) feature instances can be added in the License Manager
screen while creating groups (if the Add instances later check box is
selected in the License Designer screen while adding/editing the default
feature instance).
Firmware
Computer programming instructions that are stored in a read-only memory
unit rather than being implemented through software.
G
Group
A group is a package of licenses (templates) that you want to program in the
Sentinel Key for your customers and distributors.
