Cleaning your open fit hearing aid
Step 1: Disconnect the tubing at the top
where it joins the hearing aid.
Step 2: Thread the cleaning wire into the
tube from either end.
Step 3: Feed the wire all the way through
the tubing to clear any wax/debris.
Step 4: Reconnect the tube to the hear-
ing aid by firmly pushing the top of the
tube back into the opening. Lightly tug the
tube to ensure that it is connected se-
curely.
Changing The Dome
You will need to change the dome on your open fit hearing
aid every 3 months. You will be issued with a 6 month sup-
ply of domes by your Audiologist.
Step 1: Pull the dome from the end of the tube
Step 2: Discard the old dome and replace with a new dome.
Step 3: Ensure that the dome is secure before re-inserting.

Daily cleaning
To maintain the cleanliness of your open tube day-to-day
you should wipe the dome with a damp cloth or tissue to
prevent a build up of wax/debris. You may also wish to clear
the tube using the thin wire provided as demonstrated on
page 6.
Maintaining the tubing
You should return to the Audiology clinic every 6 months to
have the open fit tubing replaced. The tubing is the pas-
sageway for the sound from the hearing aid to your ear and
its upkeep is important for the sound quality.
Ear check
It is also important for the audiology department to check
you ears are clear every 6 months as the dome is a detach-
able piece of the hearing aid and if this became dislodged in
the ear canal it could cause a problem. Therefore you must
attend the Audiology Dept. every 6 months for this routine
check.
Using the telephone
In order to hear on the telephone you need to hold the
handset to the top of your ear where the microphone for the
hearing aid sits. Hold the handset slightly away from you
ear to help reduce feedback.
