DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
DISASSEMBLY (F ig. 14)
G ear Box
1. R em ove w asher pump mounting sc r e w s and
lift pump from m otor.
2. R em ove w asher pump drive cam (fig. 18).
Cam is p r e sse d on shaft but may be rem oved by
carefu lly wedging two screw d riv ers between cam
and plate.

3. Lightly clam p crank arm in a v is e and r e ­
m ove crank arm retaining nut. Separate arm from
shaft.
NOTE: Failure to clamp crank arm may r e ­
sult in stripping of drive gea rs when retaining nut
is rem oved.
4. R em ove se a l cap, retaining ring, and end-
play w a sh ers.
5. D r ill out gear box cover attaching riv ets
and rem ove cover from motor assem b ly.
NOTE: N ece ssa r y parts for re a sse m b ly of
gear box cover to m otor is contained in se r v ic e
rep air package.
. R em ove output gear and shaft a ssem b ly,

then slid e interm ediate gear and pinion assem b ly
off shaft. Note p osition of wave w a sh ers.
7. If n e c e ssa r y , rem ove term inal board and
"PARK" sw itch by marking w ires and unsoldering
at term inal lu g s. D rill out term inal board attaching
riv e ts and rem ove board.
Motor
1. Rem ove m otor through b o lts, tap m otor
fram e lightly, and separate m otor a ssem b ly from
gear box housing.
2. Rem ove brush tension by placing brush
spring in holder groove a s shown in figure 15.
3. Slide arm ature and end plate from motor
fram e and field . Note arrangem ent of wave w ash­
e r s (fig. 16) on gear end of arm ature shaft before
rem oving to a ssu r e proper installation upon motor
a ssem b ly.
4. P ull end plate from arm ature. Note thrust
plug betw een tip of arm ature shaft and end plate.
INSPECTION
Check arm ature shaft, g ea r s, and supporting
bushings for w ear. Inspect com m utator for e v i­
dence of arcing or lo o se so ld er joints to arm ature
w indings. Check "PARK" contacts for dirt or o x i­
dation. Inspect for worn b ru sh es, weak sprin gs,
and binding in holders.
In general, inspect a ll p arts for serv icea b ility
and rep lace as required. A ll p arts can be replaced
individually except m otor fram e and field which is
se r v ic e d as an a ssem b ly. S ervice k its provide all
n e c e ssa r y attaching p arts for installation of gear
cover and term inal board.

NOTE: B e su re wave w ash ers on arm ature
shaft are in stalled properly as shown in figure 16.
Lightly
lubricate arm ature shaft bushings with
light m achine o il. B e su re brushes a re properly
p ositioned in holders before arm ature com m utator
protrudes between b ru sh es.
