    WL-AM604 4-Port ADSL Router Quick Start Guide xDSL LINK Package contents • WL-AM604 4-Port ADSL router • 15 VAC AC power adapter • RJ-11 telephone cable • RJ-45 Ethernet cable • Splitter • User Manual • Quick Start Guide Safety information • Place your router on a flat surface close to the cables in a well-ventilated area. • To prevent overheating, do not block the ventilation openings of the router. • Plug this equipment into a surge protector to reduce the risk of damage from p ower surges and lightning strikes. • Operate this equipment only from an electrical outlet with the correct power s ource as indicated on the adapter. • Do not open the cover of this equipment. Opening the cover will void any w arranties on the equipment. • Unplug the equipment first before cleaning. A damp cloth can be used to clean t he equipment. Do not use liquid / aerosol cleaners or magnetic / static cleaning d evices.

    WL-AM604 4-Port ADSL Router Quick Start Guide xDSL LINK Hardware overview Front panel The WL-AM604 4-port ADSL Router front panel contains LED indicators which shows the status of WL-AM604. xDSL Power LINK Alarm LAN1-LAN4 xDSL Activity Description Solid ADSL is connected. XDSL Link No light ADSL is not connected. The ALARM led will be red. Blinking The router is connected to ADSL. Solid ADSL is connected, and there is no ADSL traffic. XDSL ACT No light ADSL is not connected. Quick blinking There is ADSL traffic.

NOTE: To be used by maintenance professionals only. If the router Console needs repair, bring it to a service professional. Restart-press the button for less than four seconds. Reset Default settings-press the button for four seconds or longer. LAN1-LAN4 RJ-45 connects the unit to an Ethernet device such as a PC or a switch. Power Connects to a 15 VAC AC power adapter. On / Off Press to turn the router on and off. Hardware connections ADSL connection Use the ADSL splitter supplied in the package to split ADSL signal and telephone service. Connect your ASUS WL-AM604 4-port ADSL Router to the DSL port of the splitter with the telephone cable supplied in the package. Use another telephone cable to connect your telephone to the Phone port of the ADSL splitter. Ethernet connection Use RJ-45 Ethernet cable to build up your wired LAN connections. Mounting can be done on wall material including concrete, wood, or drywall. Select an appropriate location free from obstructions or any possible interference. Make sure the cables can be easily attached to the router without strain. The illustration below shows how to mount the router horizontally on a wall.

    WL-AM604 4-Port ADSL Router Quick Start Guide xDSL LINK Configure your computer Prior to accessing the router through the LAN port, note the following necessary configurations : • Your PC’s TCP/IP address: 192.168.1.__( the last number is any number between 2 and 254) • The router’s default IP address: 192.168.1.1 • Subnet mask: 2.2.2.0 Below are the procedures for configuring your computer. Follow the instructions for the operating system that you are using. Windows 2000 1. In the Windows taskbar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and...

In the Network Connections window, right click the Local Area Connection icon and click Properties. 3. The Local Area Connection screen displays the installed network components. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) iand then click Properties. 4. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, select Use the following IP address and key in 192.168.1.X (where X is any number between 2 and 254) and 2.2.2.0 in the IP address field and Subnet Mask field. 5. Click OK to save your changes and then close the Control Panel. Log in to the router To log in to your router: 1. Key in http://192.168.1.1 (the router's default IP address) into the address box of the web browser and press Enter. 2. A login window appears. The default username is admin, and password is admin (lowercase).
