    General ProduCT and safeTy InformaTIon What are the advantages of measuring body temperature at the ear? The hypothalamus, which is the part of the brain that regulates body temperature, is very close to the eardrum. Ear thermometers, unlike oral, rectal, or underarm thermometers, can detect real-time changes in body temperature.

    Probe Covers should I use probe covers with the Instant ear Thermometer? No. The thermometer is calibrated to work without the use of probe covers, for your convenience. Always clean the lens before and after use to maintain accuracy and prevent cross- contamination.

    aCCuraCy Why do multiple measurements produce different readings? Many factors may contribute to differing results. To prevent different readings, clean the lens before and after each use, use the same ear for each measurement, position the probe in the same way each time, and wait at least 10 seconds between readings.

    CleanInG How often should I clean the thermometer? The lens should be cleaned before and after each use, to eliminate earwax and fingerprints and ensure the accuracy of your readings. Use an alcohol swab, or a soft cotton swab moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol, to gently cleanse the probe lens and thermometer casing.

There is generally no significant difference between ear temperatures, although special conditions such as infection, ear canal drainage, or previous ear surgery may make one ear more suitable than the other.
