PROGRA~~ING
INTERFACE TO CSDP (cont'd)
An additional software generation aid -- the
COS~~C
Batch Assembler (CBA) is also available.
This program.
which runs on an IBM batch-processing system. also
accepts a source file input and generates a UTZ-compat-
ible object file.
In this case. the medium on which the
output file is written is installation-dependent.
If a
paper tape can be generated. it can be used. of course.
with the normal paper tape Microkit loading procedure.
If the output file is on cards. clearly the Microkit must
be appropriately interfaced to a card reader to effect
a program load.
If the object file can be transmitted
from the batch system to a remote terminal, a process
similar to that discussed above (CSDP load) can be used
to effect a program load.
Further details can be found
in the COSMAC BATCH ASSEMBLER (CBA) Manual.
As a final note on loading. one should not overlook the
special features available using the
COS~~C
CPU's "load
mode" (not utilized in the minimal Microki t).
It is
possible for a user to develop a hardware I/O interface
(non-standard) which takes advantage of this capability.
The
COS~~C
"load mode" is described in detail in the
COS~~C
Microprocessor Manual.
